Taking some examples:
Often considerable discounts can be given to rooms, flats or houses that are unfurnished, or where the carpet is in a fairly good condition and has been well looked after and does not require that much cleaning work to be carried out: in other words it is more of a maintenance clean to keep the carpet in tip top condition rather than a restoration job.
Another example is where a customer may only want the carpets in certain areas of a room cleaned, and does not want any furniture moved.
Or in the case of upholstery where a customer may only want certain parts of a settee or armchair cleaned like the arms and tops of the cushions,
because the rest of it is fairly clean and does not look dirty, or just the main areas of a three piece suite because the cushion covers can
be taken off and put in the washing machine.
